This Privacy Policy explains how StudyZora (“we”, “us”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our study platform (the “Service”). We aim to collect only what we need to run the Service well.

1. Information we collect

Information you provide

• Account details — your name and email address when you sign up (and, if you use Google sign-in, the basic profile your provider shares).
• Study content — the documents, text, links, and other material you upload, and the flashcards, quizzes, notes, and answers generated from or entered against them.
• Payment information — when you upgrade, payments are handled by our provider (IntaSend). We receive confirmation and limited transaction details; we do not store full card or M-Pesa credentials.

Information collected automatically

• Learning activity — study sessions, card ratings, review schedules, quiz results, and progress, so we can personalize your experience and show your mastery.
• Basic technical data — information needed to keep your session secure and the Service reliable.

2. How we use your information

• to provide the Service — generating and organizing your study material;
• to personalize learning — spaced repetition, topic mastery, exam readiness, and recommendations;
• to process payments and manage your plan;
• to send you essential account and service emails (such as your welcome email and password resets);
• to secure, maintain, and improve the Service.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your uploaded study content to train our own models.

3. Service providers we share data with

We use a small number of trusted providers to run the Service. They process data only on our instructions:

• Supabase — authentication, database, and file storage for your account and content.
• Anthropic (Claude)— AI generation and tutoring. Content you submit is sent to generate study material; per Anthropic’s terms it is not used to train their models.
• IntaSend — payment processing for Pro upgrades.
• Resend — sending transactional emails (only if email is enabled).
• Voyage AI — optional text embeddings for search/retrieval features, only if enabled.

4. Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete individual study sets and courses at any time. If you close your account or ask us to delete your data, we will remove your personal information and content, except where we must retain limited records to comply with legal or accounting obligations.

5. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit, access controls, and per-user data isolation. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your information safe and to respond promptly to any issues.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can update your profile in the app, delete your content, or contact us to exercise these rights.

7. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. International processing

Our providers may process and store data in countries other than yours. Where we transfer data internationally, we rely on providers that offer appropriate safeguards.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, take reasonable steps to notify you.
